Some of my favorite blogs have thrifty finds that they share on Monday. I plan on doing the same when I have anything that I find that is unusual. And, hopefully not very often, when I totally screw up buy something only I could love.
It was such a nice Friday that I had to get out of the house. Off to my favorite thrift. I didn’t have anything that I needed but it was nice to just browse.
I have been trying to learn more about vintage books because that is a section of most thrift’s that I don’t bother with. The Goodwill in our area has mostly book club editions and paperbacks. I don’t read romance novels so I don’t bother looking. I do love a good vintage cookbook though and I do a quick scan for cookbooks.
I picked this book up because it looked old and scholarly. Published in 1950, 1st edition, 1st printing, ok that sounded good…
I scanned through it and loved the photographs. Into my basket it went. I don’t have access to the internet on my phone so the first thing I did when I got home was check it out on the internet.
Surprise!!!! One was listed on ebay for $315.00 (no bids), abebooks.com had one listed for $174, the same one on ebay for $315, and a signed presentation copy listed for $850!!!
Oh, I think I might have to list this on ebay. Please, Thrift Gods, if you are listening, don’t let me screw this up.
Oh, and I paid 42 cents for it!!
Hopefully, I will be able to link Apron Thrift Girls Monday Thrifty finds.
What a great score. I hope you do well on it. I too would love to learn more about books..but its a slow process. I hope you do well with this.
