I'VE BEEN A BUSY GIRL......

You know its tough work when you have a 50% off coupon and really NEED to use it.....

I got lucky the first of the year and scored two calenders to my favorite thrift store. At the bottom of each month there is a coupon for various things in the store. Buy one get one, 25% off of selected items, but my favorite is 50% off of your entire purchase. There is one for the month of May and one for the month of October. Summer and Winter!!!

This is my score last week. I was the first car in the parking lot on Wednesday and the only customer in the store for the first hour.

My poor car was bursting at the seams. I shopped from 8:15 until 10:00 and used my 50% discount coupon. This is my 50% purchase

One shopping bag for $27. But I made the best of it. New Barbizon gown, hot rollers, Fitz & Floyd fall candle holders, a brand new Braun aural professional thermometer, two vtg half doll dresser powder trinket dolls, a bunch of stockings and pantyhose, NIP, audio cassettes, a Caboddle and some tupperware.

Then I made the mistake of going outside under the awning and digging through the bins.
All of the stuff in the three bags on the ground and the one bag in the car were from the bins. Total cost?
$4.00....thats US dollars not Martian Marks!!!! I don't know what she rang up but I ended up with 64 items for those $4....thats 6 cents an item!!! Everything is supposed to be 25cents each, but I guess she knew what she was doing since she is the assistant manager!?!?!?

It was so much fun....I found a pink flamingo marionette,5 dolls that are good for reborn, a starbucks aviator bear, Fraggle Rock doozer, Skelanimals NWT, a big vtg 24" baby boy Ideal doll from the 50"s(I have a smaller one from my childhood), lots of vtg slips, Norma Kamali pants, Moda Int'l eyelet dress NWT, XXI ivory silk chiffon short cocktail/formal dress, Ann Taylor silk pants, some Eddie Bauer shirts, Columbia windbreaker, Levis, Wrangler, Charlotte Russe, LLBean, August silk and I could go on.

While I was outside I crossed the line....the green line that is. Everything behind the green line is FREE.
They have three bins that they throw things in that are missing something or parts of things that they don't know what to do with, mostly books, tupperware tops or bottoms, lids, dolls and toys. I spotted a Playmobile Fairy Tail Castle, not complete, but in good shape and discontinued. Good enough to sell for parts!!!

All of this was FREE....and apparently you can piece out older, discontinued toys for some easy $$$.
I haven't done this before, but it was free and I will give it a try and see what happens.

So, instead of having a neat and orderly house (NOT!!!) I now have another mess. Thank goodness SweetiePie is understanding and patient, well understanding, not so patient. He thinks that all of the stuff I bring home just makes its way to the internet by magic.
I wish it was magic....but the only magic I feel is when my phone chimes and I know I have something sold.
Happy Pickin'.....

  3. looks like you got some good bargains. I wish we had a green line at our thrift stores... Thanks for the comment on my blog. I'm not really happy about offering free shipping but with ebay taking an additional 9% of your shipping, I feel I have no choice. I had a buyer purchase multiple of one of my items and did not wait for a combined invoice. She paid over $18 for shipping I had to refund her about $15 and ebay refused to refund me the extra shipping fees they took out. I know its less than a dollar but those dollars add it.

  4. If ebay took more money on each sale from all of their sellers just think how much money they would make "extra". At just 1cent for each listing for each seller....boggles the mind.
